Before Endodontic Treatment
This procedure will be performed using local anesthesia. There are usually no restrictions after the procedure, if no sedation has been used, concerning driving or returning to work or school. Continue all medications for blood pressure, diabetes, thyroid problems and any other conditions as recommended by your physician. If there is a question, please call our office prior to your appointment.
Please eat a full breakfast or lunch as applicable.
If you have been advised by your physician or dentist to use antibiotic premedication because of mitral valve prolapse (MVP), heart murmur, hip, knee, cardiac or other prosthesis, or if you have rheumatic heart disease, please make sure you are on the appropriate antibiotic on the day of your appointment. If there is a question, please call our office prior to your appointment.
Please do not take any pain medications before your appointment because this can interfere with tests that have to be performed in diagnosis. You may take pain medication after your diagnosis has been determined.
For I.V. sedation patients.
Do not eat or drink anything after midnight the day before your treatment. If you need to take a pre-med antibiotic or high blood pressure medication, please do so with very little water. Any other medications will need to be cleared by our office before treatment. You will need a driver to bring you to your appointment and to take you home. You will not be able to drive or work after your treatment. It is recommended you stay home and rest. Please do not wear any jewelry or bring any personal items with you into the operatory.
